Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) associating with Microsoft is going to introduce 'Coding' and 'Data Science' subjects from upcoming academic session 2021-22, Union Education Minister said on Friday.
Complying with the recommendations of New Education Policy 2020 (NEP 20) and its commitment of promotion skills among the school students the initiative to introduce Coding and Data Science in curriculum is taken by the Central Board, an official statement reads.
Sharing his personal views on the initiative Union Education Minister said, "With a vision to empower India's future generations with new-age skills @cbseindia29, in association with @Microsoft, have introduced the Coding and Data Science from session 2021-22. This is a timely decision to implement #NEP2020 in true spirit.
Kudos to CBSE and Microsoft."
According to the CBSE, Faculty and handbooks have been created with the support from Microsoft.
As per the revised affiliated Bye-laws of the board, a school does not need to apply separately for introducing these skill subjects. The school shall fill in the details in OASIS form and provide the required details.
For introducing these additional skill subjects, adequate handholding, mentoring and training of the teachers of the school that have introduced skill subjects w.e.f the session 2021-22 the schools will have to provide information.
