Rituparna Sengupta was born in 7th November 1971 in Kolkata, West Bengal, India. He is an Indian movie actress and producer who is primarily seen in Bengali movies, and also has worked in a few Bangladeshi films. Rituparna Sengupta competed her schooling at Mount Carmel School and later graduated from history in Lady Brabourne College. She competed postgraduate in the art from the University of Calcutta but in order to focus on her career as an actress, he had to disrupt her studies. she made her acting debut from the Partho Ghosh directed film 'Teesra Kaun' starring Mithun Chakraborty, Chunky Pandey, and Amol Palekar in 1994. In the next following year, she made her debut in the Telugu film industry from the film Ghatotkachudu under the direction of S. V. Krishna Reddy starring the legendary Southern actor Akkineni Nagarjuna. In 1996, she signed her debutant Kannada as well as Bengali films such as Karnataka Suputra (Kannada) and Abujh Mon (Bengali). In 1997, she was cast in the Bengali film Dahan directed by Rituparno Ghosh. For that film, she received her acting recognization by receiving the National Film Award for Best Actress. In the mid of the same year, she signed her first ever Bangladeshi film Swami Keno Asami. In the few years of her acting career, she became the popular face of the Bengali cinema. In the subsequent time, she appeared in the mix of Bengali as well as Hindi films such as Aakrosh, Agni Shikha, Paromitar Ek Din, Utsab,Chairman,Alo, Debipaksha, Shaktimaan,Main, Meri Patni Aur Woh,Anuranan,Mon Amour: Shesher Kobita Revisited,Phera and Mittal v/s Mittal. In the year 2015, she was starred in the Bengali film Rajkahini, she once again impressed the audiences as well as critics for her brilliant acting on the silver screen. She was awarded by the Tele Cine award for Best Actress. She received her career first Filmfare award for best actress (Critics) for the Nandita Roy and Shiboprosad Mukherjee directed Bengali film Praktan in 2016. She is married to Sanjay Chakrabarti, who is the founder and also the CEO of MobiApps on 13 Dec1999.
