Veteran filmmaker Bharathiraja Demands Ban On The Family Man Season 2 For Showing Tamil Eelam Fighters In 'Bad Light'

Recently the second season of Samantha Akkineni, Manoj Bajpayee, and Priyamani starrer The Family Man was launched on Amazon Prime multiple days back. Even earlier than the episode’s release, there had been a huge outrage on social media and a segment of Tamil speaking populace demanded the launch be canceled.

Later, after the release of the second season, the outrage did not go away. While Tamil nationalists have been expressing their disappointment, veteran filmmaker Bharathiraja has now issued a statement, in which he has demanded the video streaming platform Amazon Prime to prevent streaming The Family Man Season 2.

He alleged that the season portrays the Eelam Tamil humans in a negative manner and said that failing to prevent streaming the season will prompt Tamil locals towards boycotting the OTT platform. Starring that Manoj Bajpayee, Priyamani, and Samantha Akkineni withinside the lead roles, the show is directed by Raj and DK.

A couple of weeks back, the Tamil Nadu authorities had lodged a request to the Ministry of Information & Broadcasting to both prevent or ban the release of the show’s 2nd season.

It became alleged withinside the request that the series has depicted the Tamil Eelam in a terrible mild. In a letter to I&B minister Prakash Javadekar, Tamil Nadu IT Minister T Mano Thangaraj stated the trailer portrayed Tamilians in a “enormously objectionable manner”. Before this, Bharathiraja raised his voice towards the biopic of Srilankan cricketer Muttiah Muralidharan, and eventually, it was shelved.
