Two Indian high commission officials missing in Islamabad, MEA lodged strong protest

External Affairs Minister Dr. S. Jaishankar delivered a keynote address at the inaugural session of the 3rd Annual Conference of Protectors of Emigrants today. In his opening remarks, he informed that the focus of the government of India has been to provide better opportunities and welfare measures to prospective migrants. EAM Jaishankar also claimed that GOI has been engaged in negotiation with foreign governments to provide ease of travel and opportunity through migration and mobility agreements.

"As with the rest of the country, the protectors of emigrants must rise to the challenge of reviving the post-COVID economy and engaging the post-COVID world," said EAM Jaishankar while addressing the 3rd Annual Conference of Protectors of Emigrants. He further added that the government of India is focusing that negative economic consequences of the pandemic on our talent abroad are mitigated that is influenced not only by the quality of our bilateral relationships but the helpful approach that we've displayed in regard to health and economic requirements of our partners.

"It is imperative that we recover our market share as quickly as possible. The coming months will see dedicated efforts in that direction. The contribution that the protector of emigrants (POEs) can make to facilitate this national objective is significant", said EAM Jaishankar.

He also underlined that no expatriate community has contributed more to building UAE than that from India. Speaks on an Early Leave Initiative that will allow workers to go home while having their terms of employment held open until they return. Yet another example of the transformed #IndiaUAE partnership.

As per the sources, two Indian officials working with Indian High Commission in Islamabad (Pakistan) are missing and the Ministry of External Affairs (MEA) has taken up the matter of untraceable Indian officials (working with Indian High Commission in Islamabad) with Pakistan.
