The Lion King Box Office Collection Day 1: Jon Favreau directional gets a great opening in India

The Lion King Box Office Collection Day 1 - Disney remake Hollywood latest release “The Lion King” which opened in theaters yesterday, has received a great opening at the box office. The film opened with Rs 11 crore at the domestic box office. This is higher than the last big Hollywood release - Spider-Man: Far From Home, which collected Rs 10 crore on its first day. The Lion King is the updated version of the classic 2D animated feature of the same name that released way back in 1994. Directed by Jon Favreau, who also did a similar usage on The Jungle Book (2016).
 
         Directed by Jon Favreau, The Lion King has received mixed reviews at the box office. The film’s box office collection was opens in double digits on his opening day and made an impressive Rs 11.06 crore with a gross of Rs 13.17 in all versions in the domestic market.


The Lion King is a remake of the 1994 animated Disney classic of the same name. In India, the film was released in India in Tamil, Telugu, Hindi and English. The Hindi version of the film has voice-overs by Shah Rukh Khan, while his son Aryan has lent his voice to the primary character, Simba. The film also features Ashish Vidyarthy, Sanjay Mishra, Shreyas Talpade and Shernaz Patel in key roles.
 
The English version of the film Veteran actor James Earl Jones returns to voice Mufasa. The film casts Donald Glover, Seth Rogen, Chiwetel Ejiofor, Alfre Woodard, Billy Eichner, John Kani, and Beyoncé also voice different characters in the film.
  
Film critic and trade analyst Taran Adarsh tweeted: "The Lion King roars... Opens in double digits on Day 1... Trends better than Spider Man: Far From Home [Day 1: Rs 10.05 cr]... Biz will witness an upturn on Day 2 and 3, when kids and families throng cineplexes... Fri Rs 11.06 cr. India biz. Gross BOC: Rs 13.17 cr. All versions.


Taran Adarsh also informed that the film was released in India in English, Hindi, Tamil and Telugu on around 2140 screens. Also, the film hit the screens on July 19 in India.
