Soorarai Pottru Movie Review

Soorarai Pottru is an inspiring movie about a man who has a big dream. Itis based on Captain GR Gopinath's story from the industry of aviation The film relies on Nedumaaran Rajangam's role played by Suriya who is the son of a school teacher in a village named Madurai. He dreams to start an airline of lowcost that can be an ambition for less privileged people. With this inspiration, Paresh Goswami who is a leader flying industry does his best to ensure that his dream does not get fulfilled.

After 24 years, Soorarai Pottru is in the dramatic scene where he is seen begging for money from various passengers in an airport to visit his dad. Aparna Balamurali who is playing the role of Bommi shows why Suriya is considered one of the best from his generation. The relationship between Maaran and Bommi is one of the biggest strengths of this film. They are two individuals who have two different dreams and both are crazy to fulfill it. Boomi sees the dream of running her own bakery even if that is small compared to Maaran's. The director Sudha Kongra kept stating the fact that he is somehow breaking the ceiling of his comfort zone to fly high in her own way.

There comes an introduction scene where an older man tells her that the only sons fulfill the dreams of their parents and right from that moment Boomi keeps questioning the environment and rules around her. Her success and her support provide permission to Suriya to cling on to his wild dream at the lowest moments of life.

Sundari character aka Bommi is a completely different story. The makers of the film have created Sundari's character as a complex person who has no advanced backstory. Her character is so independent in the film where she is not the one told be told to what to do. She knows her conditions and holds herself in the ground. There comes a time when Maaran let go of her dream in anger. Their relationship represents self-respect that all marriages should be made of.

The love story of Soorarai Pottru is very heart touching and it shows marriage equality between two people. We have seen many times in this film that Maaran stands at the crossroads of his dreams and family. Every time he stops and looks at her wife Sundari that he will always keep his family first and Sundari interrupts and say that she has got it.

The writing and scripting of the film are solid. The director has given us some memorable characters with moments. The film is breaking many stereotypes in the film that only men can take care of the family and it is only his duty to run the family. But this film has broken all the ceilings in its own way. The film has received an amazing response from its fans.
