Putham Pudhu Kaalai Review: Compilation of stories that bring Tamil cinema to Ethereal Picturesque
Putham Pudhu Kaalai on Amazon Prime Video

Putham Pudhu Kaalai is a collection of small stories that embrace the fruitful and futile journey of people in this lockdown. Putham Pudhu Kaalai is the compilation of short stories that brings the ethereal picturesque to the Tamil Cinema. Amazon prime presents the anthology of five stories that reviews the life of people altogether named Putham Pudhu Kaalai. Let's move further to see how the movies tariff on the OTT platform:

Ilamai Idho Idho

Director: Sudha Kongara

Cast: Jayaram, Kalidas Jayaram, Urvashi, Kalyani Priyadarshan

Overall the story brings the essence of Mani Ratnam's style to give middle-class texture to the story and the characterization. Kalidas and Kalyani's chemistry was commendable. it is the pure example of befitting small songs in the OTT oriented movies. The story shows the small conflict of a middle-class family but Sudha's writing of romance is purely generic. SP Bala Subrahmanyam's voice can be cherished in the ultimate songwriting. Hence, it shows the blended life of middle-class families with a suitable choice of music and visualizing purity in love.

Avarum Naanum / Avalum Naanam

Director: Gautham Menon

Cast: MS Bhaskar, Ritu Varma

This part of the movie Putham Pudhu Kaalai revolves around the relationship between grandfather and grandchild. Gautham Menon is always known for the romantic touch in movies like Enai Noki Paayum Thota and so on. But in this, he completely chooses the opposite subject to justify his directing skills. The story showcases the Granddaughter (Ritu Varma) comes to visit his grandfather (MS Bhaskar) and see through the life in lockdown. Avarum Naanum/ Avalum Naanam is a fun-filled story as MS Bhaskar can see how technology develops and the experience of WFH employees, enjoys some moments with her granddaughter in lockdown. Overall it reviews some exciting and stimulating impact on the audience.

Coffee, Anyone?

Director: Suhasini Mani Ratnam

Cast: Suhasini Mani Ratnam, Anu Hasan, Shruti Haasan

Firmness and determination is the main theme of the story. This part explores the determination of the characters to survive the medical terms. Shruti Haasan stays in Mumbai whereas the other family members are still figuring out to survive the medical hindrance. Henceforth, this coffee could have been much stronger as the characterization was not suitable and the story is a little bit off for the OTT platform. The review of people towards this story is quite normal. This will not bring some element to watch on Amazon Prime Video.

Reunion

Director: Rajiv Menon

Cast: Andrea Jeremiah, Leela Samson, Sikkil Gurucharan

The Reunion depicts the life of people who change in this lockdown as Sadhana(Andrea) discovers herself to find the better version of herself. This story shows the connection between the famous Carnatic musician Sikkil Gurucharan who passes muster as a doctor and Andres perfectly fits into the house. The story moves on with certain surprises and the musical or poetic climax brings a positive impact on “reunion”. The story reviews the essence of pure Tamil with some stirring elements in it.

Miracle

Director: Karthik Subbaraj

Cast: Bobby Simha, Muthu Kumar

The story “Miracle” shows the life of two thugs whose life is on the backend and they have the master plan to come out of this tragic life. In this movie, it is quite interesting to see how the thugs work out the plan. In the limited time, Karthik Subbaraj shows his ability to bring the vitality and justice to the Tamil cinema. "Miracle" review the actual condition of thugs and add some middle-class element to the story.

Overall Rating: 4/5
