PS-1 Box Office Collection Day 9: Mani Ratnam's Blockbuster Enters ₹200 Crore Club Domestically!

The epic film Ponniyin Selvan: I, directed by Mani Ratnam and based on the Kalki novel of the same name, continues to do well at the box office. According to trade sources, the movie's global gross in just seven days exceeded ₹325 crores.

On September 30, PS-1, directed by Ponniyin Selvan, was released in theatres around the world in five languages: Tamil, Hindi, Telugu, Malayalam, and Kannada. The historical drama made ₹318 crores in international box office revenue in just six days, with ₹130 crores coming from Tamil Nadu alone. As far as domestic numbers are concerned, the movie will likely enter the ₹200 crore club today.

Ponniyin Selvan: 1 has broken records and is now the "fastest ₹100 crores grosser in Tamil Nadu," according to Lyca Productions, the movie's co-producers. Ponniyin Selvan's second installment will be shown in theatres the following year. Mani Ratnam, the director, recently expressed his gratitude for being able to split the movie into two parts and release part 1 now while people are still open to watching a movie in more than one sitting.
