Days after Mani Ratnam released the lavish trailer for his upcoming magnum epic 'Ponniyin Selvan 1,' it has been rumored that the film has been sold for a hefty sum to an OTT platform. Ponniyin Selvan OTT release date, TV rights, platform, where to watch & everything else you need to know has been given here.

Reports claim that Amazon Prime Video has acquired the digital streaming rights to the movie starring Aishwarya Rai, Vikram, Sobhita Dhulipala, Karthi, Jayam Ravi, Trisha, Sarath Kumar, and Aishwarya Lekshmi for ₹125 crores. In a similar vein, Sun TV has acquired satellite rights. The OTT deal of the film being made in advance shows the level of trust many OTT giants have in the makers of the movie, especially after the release of its trailer.

Ponniyin Selvan: OTT Release Date

It usually takes up to 4 weeks for a movie to hit the OTT stage after its theatrical release. Poonnin Selvan I is slated for publication on September 30, 2022. Along with the dubbed versions in Hindi, Kannada, Telugu, and Malayalam, it is scheduled to be released in Tamil.

Going by the trend of 4 weeks, the movie should be available for streaming online in early November. Since the film is a big-budget project, it's highly likely that it will stay in theatres for a very long time & the OTT release could also be pushed ahead to earn more at the box office. Thus, we can expect the movie to be available for streaming on Amazon Prime Video in the last week of November 2022. 

About The Movie 

Vikram plays Aditya Karikalan in the movie's trailer, which then transitions to Jayam Ravi as Arun Mozhi Varman, who subsequently becomes the illustrious Raja Raja Cholan. One line of dialogue from Arun Mozhi in the trailer serves to establish the character. He says, "My father gave me the orders to carry weapons for the Chola Kingdom. I serve the people of the kingdom as their protector."
