PM Modi remembered the date of April 13, 1919, Jallianwala Bagh in Amritsar during the Baisakhi festival a massacre took place. Also remembered when troops of the British Indian Army under the command of Colonel Reginald Dyer opened fire at a crowd of people pro-independence.

Vice President M Venkaiah Naidu paid his respect toward Sikhs on the memorial and listened to hymns of Sikhs priest at Jallianwala Bagh. Naidu also released a postage stamp and a commemorative coin and to mark the centenary.

Indian Vice President Naidu tweeted that each one must remember about Jallianwala Bagh massacre and how hard India pro-independence had worked hard to win it. The poet Rabindranath Tagore was so hurt after the Jallinawala massacre, returning his Knighthood Title, and he said that such mass murderers do not deserve to give someone a title.
