Indian Ministry of External Affairs on Friday summons Canadian High Commissioner over comments by PM Justin Trudeau on ongoing farm laws protest in Delhi. MEA also asks Canadian Govt to ensure the fullest security of Indian diplomatic personnel.

The Ministry of External Affairs (MEA) has summoned the Canadian High Commissioner over comments by PM Justin Trudeau on farmers' protest. MEA summoning the Canadian enovoy warned that comments such as those made by Prime Minister Justin Trudeau could have a “seriously damaging impact” on ties between India and Canada. We expect the Canadian Govt to ensure security of Indian diplomatic personnel and its political leaders, MEA adds.

"It is expected from the Canadian Government to ensure the fullest security of Indian diplomatic personnel and its political leaders to refrain from pronouncements that legitimize extremist activism" MEA said in strong worded statement.

Earlier, Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau, in his video message had spoken about the ongoing farmers’ agitation in India. He said that the news coming out of India is 'concerning'.
