E-Shram Card Launched @eshram.gov.in; Check Scheme Eligibility, Benefits & More

The Ministry of Labour & Employment has launched the e-Shram Card at eshram.gov.in. It has been launched for adding and facilitating beneficiary schemes to the Indian workers of unorganized sectors. Workers now can register for an e-Shram Card for employment benefits under different center government launched schemes and pension schemes under the PM Maandhan scheme. The application can only be filled online on the official website of the Ministry.

Unorganized workers can apply for an e-Shram card and/ or Maandhan scheme by opting for self-registration or applying from a nearby CSC center. These schemes can be availed, subject to the fulfillment of the eligibility conditions.

To be eligible for the MGNREGA employment scheme, the applicant should be an Indian Citizen, above the age of 18 and reside in rural areas. Such candidates will be entitled to work within 15 days, subject to a limit of 100 days per household per year. The wage rate has also been revised according to the new rules and policies of the act. 

In addition to the MGNRAGA, e-Shram card holders are also eligible for other employment schemes including Deen Dayal Upadhyaya-Grameen Kaushalya Yojana (DDU-GKY), Deen Dayal Upadhyaya Antyodaya Yojana (DDUAY), PM SVANidhi, Pradhan Mantri Kaushal Vikas Yojana (PMKVY), and Prime Minister Employment Generation Programme (PMEGP). Benefits of the aforesaid schemes are given on the portal.

How to Register for an e-Shram Card? Steps to follow

Step 1. Visit the official website of the portal- eshram.gov.in

Step 2. Click on "Register on e-Shram" from the right-side of the "Checkout Stories & Reports" section.

Step 3. In a new window, an option for self-registration will appear.

Step 4. Enter your mobile number (Aadhar linked is preferred) and select options of membership in EPFO and ESIC.

Step 5. Click on Send OTP, move to the next step & complete the registration process.

In order to register for PM Maandhan Yojana, workers have to visit the website maandhan.in. Thereafter, they have to click on "Register on maandhan.in" for a pension of Rs 3000/ month. Wherein, candidates have to log in using their mobile number.

Pension Benefits: 

The unorganized workers having a salary up to Rs 15,000 and of the age between 18 and 40, can also apply for Pradhan Mantri Shram Yogi Maandhan Yojana (PMSYMY) yojana at maandhan.in. These workers will be assured a pension of Rs 3000 per month. The scheme is voluntary and contributory from the Government of India.

Employment Benefits:

Apart from the MGNREGA schemes, workers can get a working capital loan of up to Rs.10,000 under the PM SVANidhi yojana. On regular repayments, these workers will also be incentivized.

Any individual, above 18 years of age, and passed the Class 8th exam can apply for projects costing above Rs.10 lakh in the manufacturing sector and above Rs. 5 lakh in the business/service sector under the PMEGP scheme. For more details regarding employment schemes under e-Shram card click here.

About e-Shram Portal: Ministry of Labour & Employment has developed an e-SHRAM portal for creating a National Database of Unorganized Workers (NDUW), which will be seeded with Aadhaar.  It will have details of name, occupation, address,  educational qualification, skill types, and family details, etc. for the optimum realization of their employability.

According to the data on the e-Shram portal, more than 7,33,43,115 workers have registered till November 11, 2021. The data shows that a large section of workers has self-registered followed by CSC center registration and company registration.
