Announcing the extension in lockdown Maharashtra, became third state after Odisha and Punjab. Maharashtra CM Uddhav Thackeray has extended lockdown in state till 30 April as decision is taken hours after interaction with Prime Minister Modi. Maharashtra CM said on Saturday 'Maharashtra will continue to be locked down till 30th April. The state will show to the country even in these tough times'. After Odisha which has extended the same duration lockdown and Punjab where people to remain inside houses till May 1, Maharashtra becomes third to extend.
To prevent Covid19 spread in state which is already taking large toll of 1600 plus infected people by April 11, has now decided to extend the lockdown two more weeks. However CM Uddhav Thackeray felt satisfaction that due to 21 days lockdown state has prevented the multiplication of Covid19 positive cases.
To maintain social distancing at state level on Saturday Maharashtra Govt extended the lockdown till April 30. Earlier in the day Chief Minister Uddhav Thackeray along with other state chief ministers interacted with PM Modi via video conferencing. Prime Minister chaired the VC with all state CMs in Review meeting and asked the state governments opinions on Lockdown and it’s Covid19 tackling efforts.
CM Uddhav Thackeray hinted in interaction with PM on extending the lockdown as number of COVID19 positive cases started surging ias new hotspots are being found in Maharashtra. In the wake of novel coronavirus outbreak, Maharashtra is most affected state in India where the number of COVID19 positive cases have crossed 1600 numbers. Maharashta Government has extended the lockdown by 30 April 2020. State becomes third after Punjab and Odisha.
PM Narendra Modi has not yet official announced the extension but indications have come up that PM has agreed to Chief Ministers who have suggested that state governments have left no option than to extend the lockdown. PM Modi has hinted that Lockdown can be put in zones determining over positive cases numbers in localities and states

PM has hinted three Red, Yellow and Green zone where the lockdown restrictions would be extended. Whereas in Green zones some relaxation can be provided in lockdown, added government sources.
