Kerala: Arya Rajendran becomes the youngest Mayor of India. On Monday Arya is elected as Mayor of Municipal Corporation of Thiruvananthapuram in Kerala state. At the age of 21-year-old Arya Rajendran elected as the Mayor of the city that marks her the youngest ever mayor of the country.
As per the party sources, ruling CPI(M) meeting Arya Rajendran on Friday at Thiruvananthapuram district secretariat recommended her name for the post of Mayor. After being ratified by the party’s state secretariat, Arya gets elected as Mayor of Thiruvananthapuram municipal corporation on Monday.

Arya fighting her first election had defeated her rival from the Mudavanmughal ward in civic elections in Kerala state recently. She scored 2,872 votes and won with a margin of 549 votes against her opponent of Congress party.
