PM Modi to Launch Employment Programme for 1.25 crore UP residents on June 26

Employment Programme: Prime Minister Modi on June 26 is all set to inaugurate an employment programme which is designed to provide jobs to 1.25 crore people in the state of Uttar Pradesh, according to reports. Further reports reveal that soon after the announcement of the employment programme, PM Modi will also speak about the beneficiaries of the state's six districts. Women beneficiaries are also set to share their experiences with the Prime Minister. As per reports, this employment generating scheme will be the largest job fair in the country till date.

Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath has also ordered authorities to do skill mapping of all the labourers so that the government could allot jobs according to their expertise in a particular field or skills. Meanwhile, UP former CM and Samajwadi Party chief Akhilesh Yadav to a chance to attack the current UP CM on providing one crore jobs. Yadav took to his Twitter and wrote, "Chief Minister made claims of providing one crore job in a rally but someone should go and ask people what they got in their bags."

Meanwhile, the Centre for Monitoring Indian Economy (CMIE) reports reveal that India's unemployment rate fell to 8.5 per cent in the week ended June 21. The unemployment rate in the country had gone up from 8.75% in March to 23.5% in the month of April and May. Owing to the millions of job losses due to the nationwide COVID-19 lockdown imposed to curb the further spread of the novel coronavirus, the rate of unemployment further peaked at 27.1% in the first week of May.
