Upgraded Pinaka MBRS, T-90 and Brahmos among other equipment to be showcased on the 72nd Republic Day

On the occasion of Republic Day 2021, the Indian Army will showcase an upgraded variant Of the Pinaka multi-barrel Rocket System Among other military equipment including T-90s, BMP-2, Brahmos Cruise Missile.

26th January 2021 Marks the 72nd anniversary of Republic Day. Indian Army plans to showcase Pinaka multi-barrel Rocket System, T-90 Bhisma Tanks, and Brahmos Supersonic Missile during the Republic Day parade which will be held at Rajpath. The parade will also include BMP-2, Bridge Layer Tank, Electronic Warfare Equipment, and Schilka Air Defence system among other equipment.

Pinaka MBRS: Pinaka is a multiple rocket launcher produced in India and developed by the Defence Research and Development Organisation (DRDO) for the Indian Army. The system can fire a salvo of 12 HE rockets in 44 seconds up to a range of 75 km. The system has currently been deployed on the northern border.

T-90S Bhishma: The T-90 is a third-generation Russian main battle tank that entered service in 1993. It is currently the most modern tank which India possesses, it is the backbone of the Indian Army Armoured Corps. The T-90 uses a 125 mm 2A46 smoothbore main gun, the 1A45T fire-control system, an upgraded engine, and the gunner's thermal sight. Bhishma can fire projectiles up to 10 km.

Brahmos: The BrahMos (designated PJ-10) is a medium-range ramjet supersonic cruise missile that can be launched from submarines, ships, aircraft, or land. It is the fastest supersonic cruise missile in the world. It is a joint venture between the Russian Federation's NPO Mashinostroyeniya and India's Defence Research and Development Organisation (DRDO). The Missile can reach targets up to 650kms.

Indian Military will also be showing Electronic Warfare Equipment System Samvijay and upgraded Schilka Air Defence system among other military equipment on Tuesday. A showcase of such state of the art military equipment can be indeed seen as a direct message to China amid current border tensions with PLA.
