Sensitive information leaked from Indian Army Northern Command, Pakistani hand suspected

Sources said that an infantry soldier from Punjab has leaked sensitive security details to Pakistan. The incident took place on Thursday at Northern Command which is headed by Lieutenant General YK Joshi.

As per defense sources, The Indian Army is investigating a serious case of a data breach from the sensitive Northern Command which looks after LOC. A soldier is alleged to have passed on a large chunk of sensitive information to his Pakistan-based handlers.

An inquiry is ordered at the Nagrota based 16 Corps, deemed to be serious as it allegedly happened when the border with China to is active in eastern Ladakh.

This news comes just after India and Pakistan announced a ceasefire along the Line of Control from midnight of February 24-25. Both sides also released a Joint-statement regarding the ceasefire agreement.

It is unclear how the soldier managed to smuggle out a chunk of sensitive data from the heavily guarded command but sources described it as a ‘high-level breach’, which could pose a serious threat to the security of soldiers posted in the region. The Army officials declined to comment on the incident.

Sources said the soldier belonged to an infantry regiment and is from Punjab. He was posted at a sensitive branch in the Northern Command headquarters and is suspected to have been recruited by a foreign agency a few years ago.
