While addressing a press conference on Wednesday, Congress leader Rahul Gandhi slammed the NDA government for not making enough increase in the defense budget to counter the Chinese threat which has increased since last year. This statement comes two days after the Union Defense budget was allocated where only a 1.4% increase was seen as compared to last year's budget.

China enters into India & grabs our land. What message do you give them? That we won't increase our Defence Expenditure. You raised it by Rs 3000-4000 Cr. What message did you give? That you can enter India & do whatever you want, we won't support our Defence Forces: Rahul Gandhi.

Rahul Gandhi also claimed that PLA has occupied Indian territory and NDA's response has been inadequate. In addition to this, Rahul Gandhi also criticized the Centre for mishandling farmers' protests.
