PM Modi to visit Serum Institute in Pune, to review Covid Vaccine production and distribution

Prime Minister Narendra Modi will visit the Pune based Serum Institute of India to review the development and distribution preparation being made. SII is in line to mass produce Covishield vaccine and currently waiting for clinical trial results.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi will visit Serum Institute of India in Pune on November 28 to review the Covid vaccine production and distribution preparation here, said Saurabh Rao, Divisional Commissioner of Pune.

PM to review preparation being made in the production and distribution of the 'Covishield' vaccine, one of the five vaccine candidates which SII was involved in India.

According to a report published in The Hindu, the Serum Institute of India (SII) is expecting the results of the clinical trials of the COVID-19 vaccine candidate 'Covishield' by January. The Pune-based vaccine manufacturer is expected to produce 50 million to 60 million doses of the vaccine candidate developed by AstraZeneca and Oxford University every month, the report adds.
