On Sunday, a Glacier burst in Uttarakhand's Chamoli district which caused huge devastation in the district. According to the reports the glacier burst at Reni village in the Joshimath area of Chamoli district. The breaking-off of the part of Glacier caused a massive flood in the Dhauliganga river in Reni village. According to the media reports, Hundreds of people feared washed away in flood.

Two teams of ITBP reach the spot, three NDRF teams have been rushed from Dehradun and 3 additional teams will reach there with help of the IAF chopper till evening. SDRF & local administration already at spot.
People are being evacuated from the areas near Alaknanda. As a precautionary measure, the flow of the Bhagirathi River has been stopped. To prevent the flow of water of Alaknanda, Srinagar Dam & Rishikesh Dam have been emptied. SDRF is on alert, CM Rawat said. Uttarakhand CM also appeals to people to not spread rumors through old flood videos.
Uttar Pradesh state govt has also ordered administrations of districts on Ganga River to be on alert as the report of the breaking off part of Nandadevi Glacier in Uttarakhand received.
