In its statement, the Ministry of External Affairs called the incident 'Unfortunate' and said that these groups who are working for the promotion of an agenda and want to derail the protests.

It's unfortunate to see vested interest groups trying to enforce their agenda on these protests, & derail them. This was egregiously witnessed on January 26, said MEA on recent comments by foreign individuals and entities on the farmers’ protests.

"Some of these vested interest groups have tried to mobilize international support against India. Instigated by such fringe elements, Mahatma Gandhi statues have been desecrated in parts of the world. This is extremely disturbing for India & for civilized society everywhere", tweeted News Agency ANI quoting the statement said MEA.
