Central Government to give Rs 15 lakh to farmers through Kisan FPO Yojna

The Government has launched several schemes to benefit the farmers and agricultural sector consistently over the years. Recently, the Central Government has launched PM Kisan FPO Yojana 2020. PM Modi has started this scheme to provide special facilities to the farmers so that through this, the same profits can be obtained from farming as is found in any industry.

What is FPO?- FPO stands for the Farmer Producer Organization. Farmers will be able to take advantage of the scheme by forming their organization. This organization will be registered under the Companies Act and the government will assist 15 lakh rupees to these farmers' organizations.

Benefits of FPO- As the organization is registered under the Companies Act, it will avail all the benefits like any company. The scheme will mainly focus on small and marginal farmers. The said farmers will then be able to buy seeds, fertilizers, and agricultural equipment with relatively more ease and will get a market for their produce as well. The middlemen will be eradicated at the same time and the farmers will hence get better prices.

Eligibility- At least 300 farmers should be associated with the farmers who will form the FPO in plain areas. In the hilly regions, their number can be 100. NABARD Consultancy Services Organization will look at the work of the FPO and evaluate it. The central government will give 15 lakh rupees after observing the work of the company for three years. For more details can visit FPOs India website.

The government is going to spend 4,496 crore rupees on this plan. Cash assistance will be provided to the Producer Organization of the farmers with this amount. Under the Pradhan Mantri Kisan Samman Nidhi Yojana 2019, annual financial assistance of Rs. 6 thousand is provided to the farmers. The amount was delivered in three installments of 2 thousand each.
