Today 22nd anniversary of the Kargil Vijay Diwas. in 1999, a bloody war was fought between India and Pakistan on the hilltops of Kargil & Indian Army successfully dislodged Pakistani intruders from Kargil hilltops, hence we celebrate Kargil Vijay Diwas on 26 July every year.

The country is celebrating the 22nd anniversary of the Kargil Vijay Diwas today. Today is a day to remember the history of India's decisive victory against Pakistan that was achieved in Kargil 22 years ago. On this occasion, Prime Minister Narendra Modi saluted the bravery, valor & resolve of the Indian Army on this occasion.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi wrote in his tweet "Today on the occasion of Kargil Vijay Diwas, we pay tribute to all the martyrs who gave their lives for the country. His bravery inspires us every day."

Defense Minister Rajnath Singh went to National War Memorial to honor those who have laid down their lives for the country. He wrote, "On the occasion of #KargilVijayDiwas2021, I visited the National War Memorial in New Delhi and paid tributes to those brave soldiers who fought valiantly and laid down their lives for the nation. Their supreme sacrifice will always be remembered and inspire coming generations."

On the occasion of Vijay Diwas, a special tweet was made by the Indian Army, the army tweeted, "“26 July” #KargilVijayDiwas epitomizes the Saga of Valour of our soldiers during #KargilWar. The gallant soldiers of #IndianArmy triumphed over Pakistani Invaders with undaunted courage & determination.

Ex-Army General Who was the COAS during the Kargil war also paid tribute to the Soldiers of the Kargil war. While sharing an old photo He tweeted, "Remembering our martyrs with photos taken at Dras Memorial two years ago. One photo is with Lt Gen Mohinder Puri (and our spouses) who commanded 8 Mtn Div so courageously and competently during the Kargil war"

It is worth noting that every year on the occasion of Vijay Diwas, a special program is held at the War Memorial located in Dras, Kargil. On Monday, President Ram Nath Kovind, Chief of Defense Staff Bipin Rawat, and other senior people will also be present to pay tribute to those who perished while fighting for the motherland. 

Let us tell you that in 1999, a bloody war was fought between India and Pakistan on the hilltops of Kargil, Ladakh. The Pakistani Northern Light Infantry (Disguised as militants) had infiltrated and occupied many strategic heights on the Indian side of LOC, but the Indian Army with support from IAF gave a befitting reply to Pakistan. The limited conflict that started in May was ended by July, PM Atal Bihari Vajpayee declared victory on 26 July 1999.
