As per recent reports, Sixteen Indian sailors who are stranded in the Chinese waters aboard MV Anastasia cargo ship for the last four months, will be returning to India on February 14. The Indian sailors who are stranded on a cargo ship will sign off in Japan on Wednesday.
Announcing the development, Minister of State for Ports, Shipping & Waterways Mansukh Mandaviya in a tweet said, "Great start of the day! Our stranded seafarers of MV Anastasia are coming back to India! The crew will sign off from Japan today and will reach India on 14th Feb. And soon will be reunited with their families! Appreciate the efforts of the Indian Embassy in China and Team MSC."

A total of 39 Indian sailors were stuck on two cargo ships in Chinese waters, out of these, 23 sailors had returned to India last month while 16 sailors are still stuck on the ship suffering from depression and other mental hardships.

Chinese administration was not allowing the ships to either dock or go for a crew change for months due to coronavirus-related restrictions. India had sought assistance on humanitarian grounds. Indian Embassy in Beijing worked hard to facilitate the smooth return.
