After getting the Green Signal from DRDO, Indian Railways has started production of personal protective equipments (PPEs) at Mission Mode. Indian Railways Jagadhari Workshop which was recently cleared by a DRDO lab, is going to lighten up other Workshops to start production on mission mode, Ministry of Railways said. Having a robust manpower and world’s largest Employer Indian Railways has extended hands during the pandemic.
Alongside of converting Railway Coaches in quarantine facilities, Indian Railways after DRDO's Green Signal set to boost production of Medical equipment including Personal Protection equipment kits. Jagadhari Workshop recently tested it’s Kit in lab of Defence Research and Development Organisation.
The Indian Railways is set for mass production of PPE kits after DRDO lab results were found satisfactory and met almost all parameters, source said. The signal gave a go ahead to Workshop unit of Indian Railways to contribute it’s mass production as required in Country at big level. In recent report it is covered that Indian Railways is going to large up the scale of PPEs production.
Railway Units have started the production at mission mode, soon the target to produce hundreds and than thousands weekly is expected to be met, added Ministry of Railways. Indian Railways has immense potential with large manpower and skilled Medical workers. More than 1.30 millions Employee work in Indian Railways (as per 2017 data) and along with Technical, Non-technical, Engineering Indian Railways has its own Medical faculty and staff.
Recently Northern Railways and Central Railways started work on manipulating Rail Coaches into quarantine facilities as number of Cases are increasing rapidly in several parts of Country.
