We are focussing on the quality of education in India. Our attempts have been to make our education system the most advance and modern for students of our country, said Prime Minister Narendra Modi while addressing students participating in the Smart India Hackathon 2020. In his address PM speaking on the New Education Policy (NEP 2020) said that the current 21st Century is the era of knowledge and it is the time to increase focus on learning, research, innovation. This is exactly what India’s National Education Policy, 2020 does, Prime Minister Narendra Modi said while addressing students participating in Smart India Hackathon 2020 through video conferencing.
Students from various colleges including The hackathon is being organised by the HRD ministry’s All India Council for Technical Education (AICTE), Persistent Systems and i4c. The Grand Finale of Smart India Hackathon 2020 (Software) will be held from August 1 to 3. The hackathon is a nationwide initiative to provide students with a platform to solve some of the pressing problems people face in daily lives, and thus inculcate a culture of product innovation and a mindset of problem-solving. Students from Shri Krishna College of Engineering and Technology, Tamil Nadu, MLR Institute of Technology and several other Institutions participated in the Prime Minister's address through Video Conference.
National Education Policy 2020 announced recently has been framed keeping in mind the aspirations of the youth of 21st century of our country. India’s National Education Policy is about the spirit which reflects that we are shifting from the burden of the school bag, which does not last beyond school, to the boon of learning which helps for life, from simply memorising to critical thinking, he said.

Talking about the flexibility to chose subjects under New Education Policy from any stream, Prime Minister said that, it was much needed. “Earlier, students were not allowed to chose subjects as per their interest but New Policy provides the flexibility to an Arts students to chose Maths along with the Humanities subjects or a Science student can chose to study History along with the other subjects.
