The Indian Government is in continuous touch with Foreign leaders over Security & Political developments even in these tough times.
Florence Parly, Defense Minister of France, wrote to her Indian counterpart Rajnath Singh yesterday, condoling the death of twenty Indian soldiers in Galwan Valley.
"This was a hard blow against soldiers, their families, & the nation. In these difficult circumstances, I wish to express my steadfast & friendly support, along with that of French armed forces," wrote the French Defense Minister.
The French Minister reiterated her country’s deep solidarity while recalling that India and France are strategic partners in the region. The French Armed Forces Minister has also expressed willingness to meet Indian Defense Minister Rajnath Singh to follow up on the ongoing discussions.
Minister Rajnath Singh was also supposed to get in touch with The American Defense Minister Mark Esper today, over call, to discuss the tensions between India and China. The plan, however, was called off for today for unspecified reasons as confirmed by Defense Ministry Officials. “It is being rescheduled for a later date.” – The officials said.
Earlier this week, on Monday, Harsh Vardhan Shringla, Indian Foreign Secretary and Francois Delattre, Secretary-General of the Ministry of Europe and Foreign Affairs of France, discussed the ongoing pandemic situation and reviewed the progress of their cooperation so far over a video setup.
S Jaishankar, Minister of External Affairs of India, later tweeted on the same and said- “Wide-ranging discussion with French FM Jean-Yves Le Drian. Covered issues of contemporary security & political importance. Agreed to address COVID-related challenges in health & aviation. Thanked him for strong support in UNSC, look forward to working together. "
