India COVID-19 Update Jan 22: Active cases make up 5.43 percent of the overall number of cases. Active cases have dropped, however, the total number of daily cases is still crossing the whopping 3-lakh mark.

India COVID-19 Update Jan 22: According to the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare, India saw a drop in daily COVID-19 infections on Saturday, with 3,37,704 new cases reported in the last 24 hours and a daily positivity rate of 17.22%. According to government figures, there were 9,550 fewer new infections on Saturday than on Friday.

India had recorded 3,47,254 new COVID-19 cases yesterday, with a daily positive rate of 17.94%. India's active caseload is at 21,13,365, according to the ministry's COVID-19 bulletin. Active cases make up 5.43 percent of the overall number of cases. The optimism rate for the week is 16.65%.

In the last 24 hours, there were 2,42,676 recoveries, bringing the total to 3,63,01,482. As a result, the recovery rate has reached 93.31 percent. 488 people have died as a result of the COVID-19 in the last 24 hours. The death toll has risen to 4,88,884 people. So far, 10,050 cases of COVID-19's Omicron variant have been identified. Since yesterday, the number of Omicron cases has increased by 3.69 percent, according to the ministry.

India's vaccine coverage has surpassed 161.16 crore in the ongoing statewide COVID-19 vaccination push, which began on January 16 last year. According to preliminary statistics, India's COVID-19 vaccination coverage has surpassed 161.16 crores in the previous 24 hours, with more than 67 lakh (67,49,746) vaccine doses administered.
