India-Bangladesh Virtual Summit: PM Modi and Bangladesh PM Sheikh Hasina inaugurate Chilahati-Haldibari Rail-link

Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Prime Minister of Bangladesh Sheikh Hasina hold a virtual summit on Thursday. During the summit leaders release a digital exhibition on Mahatma Gandhi and Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rehman during the meeting. Here is a full report-

Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Bangladesh Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina on Thursday hold virtual summit. Both the leaders jointly inaugurate the Chilahati-Haldibari Rail-link between India & Bangladesh. During the interaction Prime Minister Modi talked about country's 'Neighbourhood First' policy. To strengthen relations with Bangladesh has been a priority for me since the first day, Prime Minister Narendra Modi said during the virtual meet.

Bangladesh PM Sheikh Hasina paying the homage to the martyrs of the Indian armed forces in 1971 liberation war. "I pay deep homage to the 3 million martyrs who laid their lives. I pay tribute to the members of the Indian armed forces martyred in the 1971 war. I pay my gratitude to the govt and people of India who extended wholehearted support for the cause of our liberation, Bangladesh PM Sheikh Hasina said during Indo-Bangla virtual summit.

Hailing the efforts being made by the Govt of India in countring the Covid-19, Bangladesh Prime Minister said, "I must commend you for the manner in which your government has countered COVID19".

Speaking on the ties with the Bangladesh, Prime Minister Modi said that, "This year has been full of challenges due to the COVID19 pandemic. During this time, there has been good cooperation between our countries in the sphere of working with health professions, COVID19 vaccine etc".

India-Bangladesh Sign 7 Pacts:

India and Bangladesh on Thursday sign seven agreements, one on "protocol for trans-boundary elephant conservation". Seven agreements in areas of hydrocarbons, agriculture, textiles and community development.

Bangladesh is a significant pillar of our 'Neighbourhood First' policy. To strengthen relations with Bangladesh has been a priority for me since the first day, Prime Minister Narendra Modi added.
