After DM Rajnath Singh gave a statement on the current Indo-China border row on Thursday, Minister of State for External Affairs, V. Muraleedharan has given a statement on the connected issue of Taiwan in the Parliament.

MEA MOS V. Muraleedharan has said, "Government of India’s policy on Taiwan is clear and consistent. Government facilitates and promotes interactions in areas of trade, investment, tourism, culture, education, and other such people-to-people exchanges, This statement comes amid current disengagement between Indian Army & PLA forces near LAC.

India for a very long time has maintained a stance of 'One China Policy'  with respect to Taiwan, however, since ties between China & India have strained, official recognition of Taiwan as an independent republic separate from China has been a matter of discussion among various defense and political experts.
