Extension in lockdown? It’s being assumed that the final decision on lockdown extension shall be taken after Prime Minister's meeting with all state CMs today. As per the schedule Prime Minister to interact with all Chief Ministers of states via video conferencing today at 11AM & likely the roadmap of decision on Lockdown has been prepared. Several Chief Ministers including Delhi CM, Maharashtra, Punjab & other states, UTs to partake today in PM Modi's interaction with Chief Ministers via video conferencing.
Central Government is likely to take decision on Lockdown Extension today or in adjacent days as per sources. According to Government sources Central Government including Prime Minister himself is mulling over all possible options regarding decision on lockdown. Today at 11 AM Prime Minister Modi to chair Video Conference with State Chief Ministers over the situation after Coronavirus outbreak.
PM to hold Video Conferencing with CMs-
On Monday PM Modi has scheduled meeting with Chief Ministers over current situation due to Covid19. Prime Minister may discuss the issue of lockdown and asked their suggestions and views. Prime Minister in meeting may take suggestions from state heads on lockdown.
After holding Mann ki Baat on Sunday the Prime Minister to interact with Chief Ministers of all states on April 11. It is predicted that during or after concluding Video conferencing with Chief Ministers likely on 27 April, Prime Minister could deliver address to the nation in which he could take decision on Lockdown. However as per Government sources PM himself is monitoring the situation across all states & UTs and in coordination with Ministry of Health and Family Welfare PM is in continuous touch with situation emerging in Country due to COVID19 pandemic.
Prime Minister Modi to chair Video Conference meeting at 11 AM (April, 27)
The roadmap of decision on lockdown is being prepared and in this row today Prime Minister Modi held ameeting via video conferencing with floor leaders of parties whose combined strength in Lok Sabha and Rajya Sabha adds up to 5 MPs.
According to highly placed sources, the government is mulling over all possible options as of now. Another meeting on the issue with chief ministers is scheduled for Saturday (April 27). Government is also looking at the prospects of extending the lockdown after many state governments and health experts suggested the extension in lockdown. PM would chair video conferencing with all Chief Ministers on April 27 and likely the course of action to be finalized after meeting.
Based on Government sources it has also come forward amid raging speculations that likely two-week extension (until end of April) of the lockdown is on the card.

Central government originally wanted to go for a phased (district-wise) lifting of the lockdown. Several major states, however, thought such a plan would be too challenging because the outbreak is hardly easing in next couple of days. On other hand several state governments and experts, are requesting the Centre to extend the lockdown. The central government is thinking in this direction.
