DCGI grants permission to Serum Institute and Bharat Biotech COVID-Vaccines in emergency, PM Modi Congratulates

Drugs Controller General of India or DCGI on Sunday granted permission to Corona vaccines of Serum Institute of India and Bharat Biotech for the restricted use in emergency situation. DCGI while briefing the the media on COVID-19 vaccine made the announcement.

Drugs Controller General of India (DCGI) today, January 3 grants the permission to the Vaccines of Serum Institute of India and Bharat Biotech for the restricted use in emergency situation. Holding a press conference on Sunday forenoon DCGI speaks-out on the Covishield and Covaxin two vaccines developed by SII Pune, and Bharat Biotech, Hyderabad.

While addressing the media VG Somani, Drug Controller General of India make the public announcement on Sunday. Answering a question on side-effects of the vaccines he said that Vaccines are completly safe.

"We'll never approve anything if there is slightest of safety concern. The vaccines are 100 per cent safe. Some side effects like mild fever, pain & allergy are common for every vaccine," he said. DCGI refuting the suspects over side-effects of vaccines said, It (people may get impotent) is absolute rubbish.

Hailing the efforts made by Scientists and Innovators of India Prime Minister Narendra Modi in his congratulatory message said that it is a decisive turning point to strengthen a spirited fight. "A decisive turning point to strengthen a spirited fight ! DCGI granting approval to vaccines of Serum Institue of India & Bharat Biotech accelerates the road to healthier & COVID-free nation. Congratulations India. Congratulations to our hardworking scientists & innovators," PM Modi tweeted.

It would make every Indian proud that the two vaccines that have been given emergency use approval are made in India! This shows the eagerness of our scientific community to fulfil the dream of an Aatmanirbhar Bharat, at the root of which is care and compassion, Prime Minister Narendra Modi adds in his message.
