The third edition of the nationwide lockdown with certain relaxations is in its place as the country is submerged with the coronavirus. On Monday India moved to day 48 of its lockdown which has been extended twice after 21 Days lockdown called bg Prome Minister Modi in April last week. Third phase of lockdown leaving a number of people unemployed and a number of industries debt-ridden is moving towards another decision as PM is chairing VC meeting with State Chief Ministers. On one hand India is bringing back the stranded Indians from foreign countries launching biggest expatriation Mission named VandeBharatMission and on another Train Services for migrant and stranded workers are operationized. In view of the current situation on Day 48 of Lockdown PM Modi has called Video Conferencing with State Chief Ministers over current situation and future course of action.
The Central government is considering opening the economy in a phased manner to absorb the economic losses as well as to stem the spread of the virus. The government has also imposed some necessary restrictions to conserve the efforts that had been taken in the battle against the virus.
The Indian Railways is all prepared to resume passenger services from May 12 in a phased manner. The Health Ministry has issued revised guidelines for home isolation of very mild COVID-19 cases, stating the isolation for patients will end after 17 days of the onset of symptoms if there is no fever for 10 days. The ICMR also issued a guidance for appropriate recording of COVID-19 deaths to create robust data.
PM Narendra Modi held a conference meeting with the ministers to discuss about the opening of the economy in a phased manner. The total number of coronavirus cases in India have surpassed 63000 mark and more than 2000 deaths have been reported till now. Maharashtra has reported the maximum number of cases and has become the epicentre of the disease.
According to the Union Ministry of Health and Family Welfare, as many as 4,213 new COVID-19 cases and 97 deaths were reported in the country in the last 24 hours. Since the onset of the virus, this is the highest increase in the number of cases in one single day which has beaten the mark of 3900 cases witnessed on May 5.
The evacuation mission ( Vande Bharat Mission ) of the government to bring back the citizens of the country stranded in other countries is in operation. On Monday, a relief flight from Kuwait landed in Chennai as Indians were stuck there due to lockdown.The London-Delhi-Bangalore flight landed early in the morning at Delhi airport with Indian citizens amid COVID-19 lockdown.
