Along with Maharashtra, the speed of new cases has also increased in Delhi, Gujarat and Tamil Nadu. The number of infected in Maharashtra has crossed 41000. Of these, more than 25 thousand are infected in Mumbai city alone. The capital Delhi has been witnessing around 500 new cases continuously for the last few days. AIIMS doctors are looking at an autopsy on a COVID-19 victim to study how long the coronavirus can survive in a dead body and whether it can transmit the infection, the Delhi hospital chief medical examiner said on Thursday. The study will also help determine how the virus affects organs, said Dr. Sudhir Gupta. Informed consent will be obtained from the deceased's legal heirs to do so, he said, adding that many more departments such as pathology and microbiology would be involved in the study.
