Condolences pour in for Col Narendra 'Bull' Kumar, a man who helped India gained Ladakh heights

Indian Army and CDS General Bipin Rawat on Friday pay homage to Col Narendra ‘Bull’ Kumar, a Soldier Mountaineer who helped gaining Ladakh heights to the Indian Army. Kumar who was awarded Kirti Chakra on Thursday, passed-away.

Chief of Defence Staff General Bipin Rawat on Friday paid condolences on the demise of Colonal Narendra Kumar who was known as ‘Bull’ in Indian Army. "On the demise of Col Narendra ‘Bull’ Kumar, we convey our condolences. A soldier whose determination & yearning to scale high mountain peaks led to discoveries that helped Army to occupy locations that helped us in strengthening our defensive posture, CDS Rawat said.

Recalling his exemplary contribution to the Indian Army, he adds, Our strong posturing on the Saltoro Ridge and in other areas of Ladakh are a part of his adventurous travels. His name will forever remain etched in the rich history of our Army.

Col Narendra Kumar in 1981 led a breathtaking expedition to Siachen to map entire glacier, made a SITREP, that helped in Operation Meghdoot. Colonal Narendra Kumar awarded Kirti Chakra and many other medals for the mountaineering reconnaissance expedition he undertook at Siachen Glacier in 1978 which prevented the capture of Siachen glacier by Pakistan.

Indian Army also pays the homage to Col Narendra ‘Bull’ Kumar, followed by Prime Minister Modi and Defence Minister Rajnath Singh. Paying condolences Indian Army official handle writes, "The Soldier Mountaineer, Indian Army pays pays homage to Col Narendra ‘Bull’ Kumar a Soldier Mountaineer who who will continue to inspire generations. Colonel Narendra ‘Bull’ Kumar passed away today leaving behind a saga of utmost dedication, courage and bravery".

Prime Minister Narendra Modi also paid tribute to the Colonel Narendra 'Bull' Kumar (Retired) served the nation with exceptional courage and diligence. In his condolence PM writes "An irreparable loss! Colonel Narendra 'Bull' Kumar (Retired) served the nation with exceptional courage and diligence. His special bond with the mountains will be remembered. Condolences to his family and well wishers. Om Shanti".
