Cabinet meeting scheduled to discuss relief operations amid flood in Uttarakhand

As per recent reports, a portion of the Nanda Devi glacier in the Chamoli district of Uttarakhand broke off on Sunday morning and damaged a dam on the Alaknanda river. ITBP and SDRF have been deployed in the area and a Cabinet Secretariat meeting has been scheduled to discuss further course of action.

Amid Uttarakhand's flood crises, a high-level meeting is scheduled at Cabinet Secretariat to discuss relief operations in Uttarakhand's Chamoli. DGs and Home Ministry officials have also been summoned to join the meeting. 

On Sunday, a Glacier burst in Uttarakhand's Chamoli district which caused huge devastation in the district. According to the reports the glacier burst at Reni village in the Joshimath area of Chamoli district. The breaking-off of the part of Glacier caused a massive flood in the Dhauliganga river in Reni village.

It has been reported that around 100-150 people could've been killed in the incident. ITBP, SDRF, and NDRF teams have been dispatched to conduct rescue operations and prevent further loss of human lives.
