Bird Flu confirmed in Northern India, Poultry farms and zoos of UP, Haryana and Delhi to be monitored

After Madhya Pradesh and Rajasthan the Bird Flu has been confirmed in different parts of the Northern India including national capital Delhi. Poultry farms, Zoos and Water bodies of these states to be constantly monitored.

Bird Flu has been confirmed in Kerala, Rajasthan, Himachal Pradesh, Gujarat, Haryana, UP, MP, Delhi and Maharashtra. Poultry farms, zoos, water bodies have to be constantly monitored to control the spread of Bird Flu, said Prime Minister Narendra Modi while interacting with the Chief Ministers.

The confirmation comes hours after an unusual number of dead crows was found in Delhi's Mayur Vihar III. The samples were submitted to a laboratory in Palam for sending the same to the National Institute of High Security Animal Disease, Bhopal.

"States including Delhi, should not shut mandis or restrict sale of poultry products", said Animal Husbandry Minister Giriraj Singh.

According to a report published in Enlgish daily, Central teams have been deployed to visit the affected states of Haryana and Himachal Pradesh for monitoring and for epidemiological investigation in view of the Bird flu.
