PM Modi on Atal Jayanti December 25, launched ‘Atal Tunnel’ and ‘Atal Bhujal Yojana’. From Vigyan Bhawan Prime Minister Narendra Modi on December 25, 2019 launches Atal Tunnel (Former Rohtang Tunnel) and Atal Bhujal Yojana. On 95th Birth Anniversary of former PM Atal Bihari Vajpayee Prime Minister launched Atal Bihari Vajpayee Tunnel a 3000 meters long and at 10000 Feet height world’s highest tunnel. Formerly known Rohtang Tunnel on Atal ji’s Birth anniversary named ‘Atal Tunnel’. Pm in his speech said the tunnel shall likely change lives of People living in Leh to Manali.

Atal Tunnel a Gift on Atal Ji’s Birth Anniversary

Prime Minister Modi launched Atal Tunnel from Vigyan Bhawan on Wednesday. In Vigyan Bhawan PM Modi joined other Cabinet ministers including Ratan Lal Kataria, Gajendra Shekhawt and Defence Minister Rajnath Singh were present in the Vigyan Bhawan. The broadcast connected to Himachal Pradesh CM to villagers of Manali and Leh covered. PM said Tunnel may attract tourism and this was Atal Ji’s dream.

About Atal Tunnel World’s Highest Tunnel- Work of Atal Tunnel is 80% completed & likely in August 2020 tunnel will be opened to public. The Tunnel was known as Rohtang Tunnel (From Leh to Manali). Atal Tunnel is at 10000 Feet height and Atal Tunnel is becoming world’s highest tunnel. The World’s highest tunnel will reduce 46 KM distance from Leh-Manali route. The newly launched tunnel is scheduled to be available by August 2020 to public. As per predictions being made Atal tunnel will keep the Leh-Manali highway open during the winter. The other route to Leh is through the Zoji La pass at Srinagar-Drass-Kargil-Leh highway & tunnel will likely keep the highway open and will become quite subsidiary to that.

Atal Tunnel for Military Supplies-

Defence Minister Rajnath Singh said 4000 Crore budget was allotted to Tunnel but BRO (Border Road Organization) is completing the Atal Tunnel work in less than 1000 crore budget. PM said Atal Bihari Vajpayee Tunnel not only in favor of National security but also the lives of people from Leh to Manali will be changed. The Atal Tunnel which helps these routes is also vital to feed military supplies into military sub-sectors in the west facing Aksai Chin and the Siachen Glacier at China Border.

Tunnel Location- The tunnel lies slightly west of the Rohtang pass. The south entrance is north of Dhundi on the other side of the Beas River at 32.3642°N 77.1330°E as per sources.

PM Modi launched ‘Atal Bhujal Yojana’ on 25 December 2019. To improve conditions of Water resources Prime Minister termed Atal Bhujal Yojana. Yojana will add new heights in water management, recycling and awareness among people for their contribution in Yojana. PM also cherished Janshakti Ministry’s efforts to roll out Atal Bhujal Yojana at land in country.

PM during launch of Atal Bhujal Yojana highlighted that the subject of water was very important to Atal ji and very close to his heart. Modi Government is also striving to implement Atal Ji's vision. Atal Jal Yojana or the guidelines related to the Jal Jeevan Mission, are big steps in proving the resolve to deliver water to every household in the country by 2024. PM said that this water crisis is worrying for us as a family, as a citizen and as a country also it affects development.
