A massive fire has shocked Assam this afternoon. A gas well of Indian Oil in Assam's Baghjan in Tinsukia district was leaking for the last 14 days and caught fire this afternoon. The top officials of Assam have been reviewing the situation as the fire is massive and might spread to adjoining areas. Also, the National Disaster Response Force has been deployed at the spot.

Meanwhile, Assam's Chief Minister Sarbananda Sonowal had word with the Union Minister of Petroleum Dharmendra Pradhan to discuss the matter. Assam government also sought help from the Air Force and India Army. Sonowal also spoke to media and briefed about the currents situations and how the Assam government is dealing with it.

Climate and Environmental activist Licypriya Kangujam lashed out at Indian Oil LTD for being careless as the gas oil was leakings since 27th May. She took Twitter to express her anger against to the company.
"Massive Fire At Oil Well In Assam That Was Leaking Gas For the Last 14 Days. Thanks @OilIndiaLimited for burning our future," she wrote.
