Air India opens bookings for those passengers who meet eligibility criteria and wish to travel 'We have started bookings for domestic flights' Air India Indian airlines to operate a total of 8,428 flights each week for the next three months from May 25 to August 25, after Central Government announced the resumption of domestic flights, amid Coronavirus Lockdown. Air India, the national air carrier has recently announced to start booking international flights with eligibility criteria travel dates from May 25th following a travel ban on all flights due to coronavirus lockdown. Air India has also resumed bookings for select US routes starting 25th May 2020.
On May 25, domestic airlines will be started in the country i.e. domestic air travel will be opened. For this, the Airport Authority of India has issued guidelines under the final SOP (Standard Operating Procedure). It has been told that what rules will the domestic passengers have to follow from May 25.

Prime Minister Narender Modi earlier announced a complete lockdown in the country starting March 25, and all flights were stopped from flying till April 14, the end day of lockdown. However, the lockdown was further extended till May 17, and hence ban on flying was extended till May 17.

No-frills carriers IndiGo, SpiceJet, and GoAir said they are taking bookings for domestic flights starting soon. In the case of SpiceJet and GoAir, they have started selling tickets for international flights from May 4th. An IndiGo spokesperson said bookings for international flights open from June 1st, 2020.
However, Ministry of Civil Aviation clarified it saying- Ministry of Civil Aviation clarifies that so far no decision has been taken to open domestic/ international operations. Airlines are advised to open their bookings only after a decision in this regard has been taken by the Govt: Union Minister for Civil Aviation, Hardeep S Puri.

Despite the Coronavirus lockdown, many domestic airlines began accepting reservations for the travel date after April 14, except for Air India, which decided not to take any reservations until the end of April. Air India has come forward to announce the start of flight reservations on May 8 and June 1 for domestic and international flights, respectively.
Air India has also said today booking of domestic flights will start. Booking for any other airline has not started yet. Route and station chart has been given to all air lines by the Director General of Civil Aviation. Now the air lines themselves will decide on which route they have to start services and when to start booking for them. A total of 8 airlines have been allotted, including Air India, Air Asia, Alliance Air, Go Air, Indigo, Spice Jet, True Jet, Vistara.
- For domestic travel, passengers must reach the airport 2 hours in advance.
- Entry will be done only after screening passengers at the airport.
- For passengers above 14 years of age, the Arogya Setu app is a must in the phone. If green is not shown in the sanatorium bridge, then the entry will not be available.
- Passengers have to use their personal train or authorized taxi service.
- Passengers must minimize the use of the trolley.
- Passengers will get boarding pass without line.
All passengers must wear masks and gloves. Those who have 4 hours left in the flight departure will be allowed to enter the airport terminal building. Those with more time will not be given entry in the airport building.
