We have had a number of releases since the reopening of cinemas in India in mid-2021, but the box office will really get going in the next few weeks when the backlog of major releases opens the floodgates and we have one big ticket release every week until the end of January. The first of these is Spider-Man: No Way Home, which will be released on Thursday. Lets discuss Spider-Man: No Way Home box office predictions
Spider-Man: No Way Home is breaking pre-sale records all over the world, even surpassing Avengers: Endgame in some markets. Now, breaking the record in India may be a tall order given how big the Endgame is, but we got a taste of what's to come yesterday when many cinemas in Kerala, as well as some in Tamil Nadu and Telangana, opened the sales counter for the film.
Sales in the rest of India, primarily on national circuits, are set to begin this weekend.Sales began at 5 p.m. yesterday at Prasads Hyderabad, and the film has nearly sold out the entire opening day in the "Large Screen," while normal showings have sales of more than 80% for Thursday. At the time of writing, the premium location had sold over 8500 tickets worth a total of ₹23 lakhs for the weekend on only 26 shows.
Similarly, at another premium venue, Ariesplex in Trivandrum, the special fan event shows begin at 5 a.m. and are all sold out. At the end of the day yesterday, the theatre had sold over 6.5k tickets worth ₹17 lakhs for the weekend.
This is also the case at other theatres, with 20+ fan shows planned across Kerala so far, with the majority of them already sold out. All of this bodes well for the film's prospects, and when sales begin nationwide, we can expect a large number. Currently, Avengers: Endgame holds the record for the highest pre-sales in the first 24 hours in India; this film may attempt to overtake Avengers: Infinity War, which is ranked second.
As far as the Spider-Man: No Way Home box office predictions are concerned, the movie could earn at least ₹15-18 crores in its opening weekend & Ist week total earnings could surpass ₹25 crores too.
