Haryana Govt Schools pass percentage has doubled in last 5 Years, says Board Official

According to Additional Chief Secretary, School Education Department Haryana the pass percentage of government schools has doubled in last 5 years. In last five years the growth rate of pass percentage of Secondary class is recorded comparatively higher than private schools, Mahavir Singh the Additional Chief Secy said while interacting with media on Saturday.

In the past five years, the pass percentage of Class 10 students of Haryana government schools, has improved to almost double. The percentage has gone up 29% in last 5 years in Government schools. In 2015-16 the pass percentage in Govt schools was 30.32 percent and for the year 2020 it has reached to 59.74 percent. This growth is comparatively higher in comparison to the results of private school in Haryana state, official added.

According to the figures provided by Haryana Board of School Education, from 30.32 percent in 2015 to 59.74 percent in 2020 govt school students pass percentage is recorded. On other hand the pass percentage in private schools has just gone up with 4 percent in last 5 years. From 57.29 percent in 2015 to 69.51 percent for year 2020, HBSE board recognized private schools recorded the pass percentage for class 10. According to the state government, the pass percentage of government school students is better than even private school students in several districts including in Yamunanagar and Panchkula this year despite the fact that almost 70 percent government school students belong to poor families including SC and BPL.

“This change did not happen overnight, this is the result of consistent efforts that took place during the last five years including introduction of online transfer policy and ensuring presence of teachers in the schools through biometric attendance system,” said Haryana Additional Chief Secretary, School Education.

In Yamunanagar and Panchkula districts, officials said, the pass percentage has increased by 25 per cent and 35 per cent respectively this year in comparison to last year, which is unprecedented. According to Haryana School Education Board class 10 results 2020, more than 12,000 students have found a place in the merit list by securing above 80 percent marks, which according to them is a record, if the results of previous years are taken into account", he said.
