The Union Public Service Commission shall conduct the Indian Foreign Service (Main) Examination-2020 commencing from the 28th Date of February 2021 onward. The UPSC shall conduct the IFS (Main) Examination from the 28th of February up to the 7th Date of March 2021. The Candidates appearing in the IFS (Main) Examination 2020 shall be issued E-Admission Certificates soon.

UPSC IFS (Main) Exam 2020:  The Union Public Service Commission shall host the Main Examinations for Indian Foreign Service - 2020 commencing from the 28th Date of February 2021 onward, The Union Public Service Commission shall conduct the Indian Foreign Service (Main) Examination 2020 in 02 Shifts.  The Indian Foreign Service (Main) Examination 2020 consists of Total 06 Papers with 03-Hours' Exam Span for each Paper; viz. Paper - I and Paper - II for 300 Marks each (Aggregate 600 Marks) and 04 Subject-related Papers with each for 200 Marks (Aggregate 800 Marks), i.e., Maximum 1400 Marks.

The Candidates appearing in the Indian Foreign Service (Main) Examination 2020 to be held from the 28th of February up to the 7th Date of March 2021 may download the Examination Schedule with a click the Indian Foreign Service (Main) Examination 2020 Examination Schedule. The Indian Foreign Service (Main) Examination 2020 consists of 06 Papers; viz., Paper - I: General English:  300 Marks; Paper-II: General Knowledge: 300 Marks; Paper-III: Subject-related: 200 Marks; Paper-IV: Subject-related: 200 Marks;  Paper-V: Subject-related: 200 Marks and Paper-VI: Subject-related: 200 Marks respectively. 1st and 2nd Papers remain Objective Type of Papers with the Multiple-Choice Questions and 3rd up to 6th Papers remain Conventional comprising Questions aimed at Descriptive and Short Answers as per Limits mentioned in the Examination Papers. The UPSC shall conduct the Mains Examination for the Indian Foreign Service aimed at shortlisting the Candidates for subsequent Personality Test for 300 Marks.

UPSC IFS (Main) Exam 2020 E-Admit Cards: The Union Public Service Commission will issue the Candidates the Admission Certificates 03-Weeks prior to commencement of the Main Examination.  The e-Admission Certificates shall bear the Examination-related Information and Instructions. The Candidates must keep intact Print-out of individual e-Admit Cards. He / she must carry the Original Photo Identity Card (such as the Voter-Identity Card / Aadhar Card / PAN Card / Passport / Driving License / Identity Card issued by the Central / State Government () along with his / her e-Admit Card for appearing in the Recruitment Test. The Candidates, who do not have clear photographs on their respective e-Admit Cards,  will have to carry Two Passport-size Photographs for appearing in the Recruitment Test with an Undertaking together with Original Photo Identity Proof, such as that Aadhar Card, Driving Licence, Passport, Voter Identification, etc.

Selection Procedure: Selection to the Posts under Indian Foreign Service (Main) Examination 2020 consists of 03 Phases, Stage- I: Preliminary Examination consisting of 02 Papers for 400 Marks; Stage-II Main Examination consisting of 02 Papers for 600 (300 + 300) Marks + 04 Papers for 800 (200*4) Marks followed by Stage - III Personality Test for 300 Marks.  Final Merit shall be drawn up based on the Candidates' individual performance and Maximum Marks secured in the Mains and Personality Test reckoned in aggregate.
