University Grant Commission (UGC) after video conferencing with Universities' heads finalized new guidelines and advisories. UGC Commission on Wednesday portrayed structure of Semester term end exams in Universities, Intermediate semesters exams, academic calendar for old & new students and Online education opportunities. Among top announcements UGC has directed Universities/ Institutions to form a Covid19 cell to resolve students quarries. Commission has made it clear that Exams, Academic sessions will start late this year.
UGC has decided to cut short Examination duration to two hours from three. Decision taken in its recent meet, UGC formulated the revised guidelines amid lockdown. The Universities Semester examination scheduled in May month, will now be conducted in July month, the formed committee submitted in its report.
After interaction with University head, UGC hearing suggestions from constituted panels on Wednesday laid down new guidelines and advisories. Among outcomes the chief announcements carrying new guidelines and advisories issued by UGC to Universities amid lockdown are stated. According to UGC Intermediate Semester Students will be graded based on the internal assessment of the present and previous semester. In states where the COVID-19 situation has normalized, there will be exams in the month of July.
In case the situation does not appear to be normal in view of COVID19, to maintain social distancing, safety, and health of the college students grading could be a composite of 50% marks on the basis of the pattern of internal evaluation adopted by the universities and the remaining 50% marks on the basis of performance in the previous semester (if available), said Ministry of Human Resource Development
According to University Grants Commission universities may conduct the practical examinations and Viva-Voce Examinations through Skype or other meeting apps, and in case of intermediate semesters, the practical examinations may be conducted during the ensuing semesters.
Universities may adopt alternative and simplified modes and methods of examinations to complete the process in shorter period of time. Universities may adopt efficient and innovative modes of examinations by reducing the time from 3 hours to 2 hours, said UGC Guidelines.
For terminal semester students exams will be held in the month of July. A COVID19 cell will be constituted in every university which will be empowered to solve the issues of students related to academic calendar and examinations.

On CBSE examinations,yesterday I had a discussion with education ministers of states. I have very clearly told them that the CBSE exams that were not conducted due to COVID19 outbreak will be conducted once situation becomes normal in the country, said Union HRD Min Ramesh Pokhriyal.
