QS World University Ranking 2021: IISc Bangalore ranked World’s Top Research University

QS has released rankings of the world’s top universities for 2021. IISC Bangalore ranked number 1 in the world for research and ranked 186th in universities ranking at the 18th edition of QS World University Rankings.

QS World University Ranking for 2021 has been released in different categories. According to the Rankings, the 18th edition of the world’s most-consulted international university rankings, IISc Bangalore ranks the world's top research university. The institute bags 186th ranking in universities ranking of QS World University Rankings. The Institute has been ranked as the world's top research university in terms of Citations per Faculty in the latest QS World University rankings. QS ranked IIT Bombay at 177th position for its record-breaking performances, followed by IIT Delhi to rise to 185th.

QS World University Rankings revealed the top 1,000 universities from around the world, covering 80 different locations. There are 47 new entrants in this year’s top 1,000 while over 5,500 universities were evaluated and considered for inclusion. Massachusetts Institute for Technology (MIT) continues its record-breaking streak at number one - the ninth year in a row it’s achieved this feat - the big story this year is the impressive gains made by Asian universities.

QS Rankings for 2021 are launched at a challenging time for the whole world, with COVID-19 impacting universities and students alike. Congratulating premiere Indian institutes, Union Education Minister Ramesh Pokhriyal Nishank extended his wishes to the Professors and students of the institutes.

Hearty congratulations for the great work," said Union Education Minister Ramesh Nishank Pokhriyal in his congratulatory message.

"I congratulate faculty members, directors, and all other stakeholders of @IITDelhi for rising to the rank of 185th from 193rd over the last twelve months in QS World University Rankings 2022", he further added.
