Postpone ESE 2021 amid COVID-19 demand students, Exam on 18 July

UPSC Engineering Services Exam (Prelims) 2021 is scheduled to be held on July 18. Ahead of the examination thousands of students demand postponement of the exam citing COVID-19 risk. A Twitter campaign has been launched by the aspirants with #PostponeESE2021.

Thousands of UPSC Engineering Service Exam aspirants request the commission to differ the exam due to ongoing COVID-19 situation. Raising their demands for postponement of the ESE 2021 exam, students on Thursday launched an online campaign on social media. Citing the covid-19 risk amid the second wave of the Coronavirus and postponement of other exams, students came forth and asked Union Public Service Commission to postpone the exam for at least a month. 

A Twitter campaign has been launched on the micro-blogging site by the Engineering Service Exam (Prelims) 2021 aspirants. The matter is related to the safety of the students, when several board and institutions are postponing their exams, why not UPSC going to differ the July 18 scheduled ESE 2021 exam, an aspirant questions. 

Citing the recent steps taken for the safety of the CBSE, JEE and NEET students, ESE 2021 prelims aspirants ask public service commission to consider postponement of the examination. Students also saying that they aren't mentally prepared to appear in this all-India level exam.

"Exam centers are in capitals of states there is a high amount of risk in traveling and staying. Also, aspirants are not Fully vaccinated. #PostponeESE2021", IES Ram Tirth said on micro-blogging site.

Some of the students demand concerned authorities to prioritise the vaccination of the students ahead of the Physical examination. "Vaccination is the only way we could stop this virus. Giving ESE without taking vaccination is like stepping into lava. Kindly postpone it and provide notice at the earliest", a student shared his suggestion. 

In the same row, B.Singh an aspirant of the ESE 2021 examination tweeted, "It is well known that due to tragic 2nd wave of COVID19 all citizens including students have been focusing on saving their personal and family life. In traumatic conditions students could not focus on study hence UPSC should give at least 2 months extra time".

Union Public Service Commission has scheduled to conduct Engineering Services Exam 2021 (Prelims) on July 18, 2021. The commission is yet to take a cognizance of the demands being raised by the students.
