Thousands of students demanding the postponement of INI CET 2021 examination citing the COVID-19. The postgraduate entrance examination is scheduled to be conducted by AIIMS on June 16. An online campaign on social media with hashtag postpone INI CET 2021 (#postponeINICET2021) launched on Twitter with over 20k tweets. Aspiring students garnered support in their demand to postpone exams in view of the rising Covid-19 cases across the country. Asking for a postponement until the second wave of the pandemic subsides, '#postponeINICET2021' a student wrote on a micro-blogging site.
On Monday, June 7, the online campaign continued to trend on social media platforms with aspiring students' complaints targetting Centre government. The demand for the postponement of the exam came amid decisions taken by several state and central agencies to differ the exams like NEET and NEET PG. On Monday, 26 doctors approached Supreme Court demanding the postpone of INI CET Exam 2021.

June 8: Plea has been filed in SC, Hearing in this matter is expected to take place soon.
June 7: A petition has been filed in Supreme Court demanding postponement of the INI CET 2021 exam.
"Happy to assist our frontline Covid warriors. A writ petition has been filed before SC on behalf of Indian Medical Association MSN (CGH) with 35 serving doctors, challenging the conduct of #INICET exam", Advocate Tanvi Dubey tweeted notifying latest development.
"When a government has already postponed other exams like JEE, NEET & NEET PG why they discriminate against us for INI CET and FMGE," a student wrote on Twitter.
All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS) has scheduled to conduct INI CET 2021 on June 16, 2021 (Wednesday), at centres all over India.
According to a press release in Statesman, some of the aspirants said that AIIMS has taken the decision in haste. Many of them were on Covid duty during the pandemic and claimed to have got little time to prepare. The aspirants said that exam within such short notice is "gross injustice" since they were busy saving lives.

"Government called us for 100 days of duty due to the second wave of Covid-19, offered us PM Samman certificates, and assured us that medical exams will not be conducted before August 31, but AIIMS has announced the date of examination on June 16."
Commenting on the INI CET new examination dates, Dr Lora, another aspirant said, "Doing duties and giving examinations have never been an issue. But giving examination leaving duty midways can't be accepted. This is not the right time to conduct the examination. We are still involved in Covid duty and are completely busy with that. Postponing is the only solution which will keep everyone at the right place, both the doctors and the patients."
The INI CET is the exam for admission to postgraduate courses in leading government medical institutes in the country including AIIMS, JIPMER Puducherry, and NIMHANS Bengaluru.
The INI CET 2021 exam was originally scheduled for May 8 but AIIMS postponed it following the same meeting with PM Modi that led to the decision on NEET PG 2021. However, on May 27, AIIMS announced fresh date of the exam as June 16.
