The National Testing Agency administered NEET UG and Joint Entrance Examinations (JEE) are likely to be postponed to September-October 2020, according to press reports. According to sources HRD Minister is soon going to hold an important meeting with Union Home Ministry over pending CBSE Examinations 2020 for Class 10th and 12th which have been scheduled in July 2020. It is expected that Ministry likely to take decision over July scheduled JEE Main and NEET 2020 examinations during meeting.
Based on reports Delhi Education Minister has asked Union HRD Ministry to cancel the pending examination of Class 10th and 12th over current situation over Corona Virus. Over the prevailing situation Ministry has decided to hold a high-level meeting next week over CBSE, NTA NEET, JEE & University examinations. It has been presumed that alongside of CBSE examinations, Union Ministry may postpone NEET and JEE examinations to September-October months.
The meeting will be chaired by CBSE, UMHRD, MHA and likely the decision on Central Board of Secondary Education pending exams, NEET and JEE Main shall be considered. By now CBSE Class 10th and 12th pending examinations are scheduled to begin from 1st July 2020. Whereas NEE and JEE Main are scheduled to begin in 3rd week of July.
There have been suggestions made by Delhi Education Minister to cancel the pending CBSE Board examinations to the Union HRD Ministry, as situation over Covid19 is now allowing hold of examinations in Delhi. From the side of parents, demands have been raised to cancel the proposed CBSE examinations proposed in July. In the same matter it is expected that Union HRD Ministry shall hold high-level meeting with Union Ministry of Home Affairs next week. At the same time, a decision is also expected on Universities examinations, NEET and JEE Main 2020.
According to sources it is being expected that due to current situation over Corona Virus the dates of NEET UG and JEE Main exams likely to be extended to September-October. Currently NEET, JEE and CBSE pending examinations are proposed to be held in July month.
The Ministry of Human Resource Development (MHRD) has recently held a meeting to meet over the current challenges of hold examinations. In meeting the secretaries of the MHA & HRD Ministry, UGC Chairman, AICTE Chairman, NTA Chairman, CBSE Chairman etc. were present. Currently the issue has been discussed with the Ministry of Home Affairs. In view of current situation, the opinion from the Ministry of Health & Family Welfare (MoHFW) is also being expected to be considered. In recently chaired meeting MHRD has considered the option to postpone the examinations of CBSE, however the ministry also wants to consult the Ministry of Health & Family Welfare and Union Ministry of Home Affairs before taking a final decision on further postpone of examinations.
