For conducting the JEE Main and NEET examinations in September month, National Testing Agency (NTA) has prescribed the detailed protocol including safety measures to be followed at examination centres. The protocols including instructions to students to follow at examination hall, instructions to minimize the physical contacts, to stop frisking and to maximum use of technology to prevent infection are prepared.
National Testing Agency has clarified its stance to conduct the JEE and NEET 2020 examinations on scheduled dates in September month. The decision came amid students’ uproar asking Agency to further postpone examinations. About 15 lakh candidates have enrolled to appear for the September re-scheduled JEE Main 2020 and NTA NEET UG examinations. Getting the nod from Ministry of Home Affairs and Ministry of Education on conduct of entrance examination, NTA in its clarification has said that it cannot waste a full academic year of students, however, keeping the students’ safety the strict safety protocols would be followed at examination centres.
Students would be allowed to participate in examinations following the safety and social distancing norms. To avoid rush at the NEET & JEE examination centre staggered time slot for reporting is being prepared to avoid gathering of students, notice reads. Here are the NTA protocols for examinations-
JEE Main & NEET Exam Protocols:
At the entry point of examination centres, students along with staff members to be checked with Temperature guns and their temperature would be recorded. In case, any staff person or candidate observed to be having above to the normal temperature or found with COVID-19 symptoms/ suspect, they will be placed in separate isolation room.
Candidates will be allowed entry at exam centres following the protocols including use of face mask, hand gloves, personal water bottle, personal small hand sanitizer (50 ml), Exam related documents as per asked in Admit Card instructions etc.

Candidate will display the documents to the exam functionary without coming in physical contact. Manual attendance with signature (while wearing gloves) will be taken. And no thumb impressions will be taken at exam centre. The practice of physical movement of invigilators inside the room to be minimized. Only personal water bottles will be permitted at the table and should be brought by the candidates. To Stop candidates’ frisking at the examination centre, frisking by metal detector to be held with long handle and will be mandatory for all the candidates. Frisking personnel will ensure that while frisking metal detector does not come in physical contact. Bluetooth and Wi-Fi signal presence will be checked inside the examination hall and mandatory for all students.
