IIT JEE Advanced on 23 August, GATE Qualifying Score reduced to 650, HRD Minister

HRD Minister Ramesh Pokhriyal Nishank on Thursday announced fresh exam date for IIT JEE Advanced. HRD Minister in his statement announced JEE Advanced exam date as 23 August 2020 and also said to reduce GATE qualifying score to 650 from 750. In consecutive days over finalizing the JEE Main exam in July month, HRD Minister on May 7 announced that Advanced exam for admissions in IITs will be conducted in consecutive month of August.

In his series of tweets Dr Pokhriyal added about GATE qualifying score and Prime Minister National Research Fellowship.To increase the uptake of the fellowship, several changes have been made in the selection process of Prime Minister’s Research Fellowship so that more number of students can avail the benefit under the Scheme, added Minister.

According to report, IIT JEE Advanced Exam 2020 will now be conducted on August 23, said HRD Minister Ramesh Pokhriyal.
Finalizing the official JEE advanced exam date as 23.08.2020, the schedule of Engineering Entrance Test and admissions to IITs, NITs & other Engineering Colleges are portrayed. According to newly formed schedule now National Testing Agency to conduct JEE Main from July 18 to 23 and in successive month IIT to conduct JEE Advanced 2020 exam on 23 August.

In his statement Union Human Resource Development Minister added that the required GATE score has been reduced to 650 from 750 apart from minimum CGPA of 8 or equivalent, for the students from any recognized institute/university (other than IISc/ IITs/NITs/IISERs/IIEST/CF IIITs).

There will be two channels of entries:

1. Direct

2. Lateral

Students pursuing PhD in PMRF granting institutions (completed 12 or 24 months as per specific requirements) can also apply. NITs that hold a ranking among the top 25 institutions as per  NIRF rankings, can also become PMRF granting institution.
